Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather — the fight boxing fans have been dreaming about for years — is one step closer to reality, according to Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach.
“Golden Boy (Mayweather’s promoters) and Bob (Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter) hate each other so much so they’ve agreed to step aside. So Manny and Floyd have been talking directly,” Roach said Thursday during a Q&A at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills after a special screening of the HBO documentary series, “On Freddie Roach.” “It would be a 40-40 split and the winner would take the extra. Which is fine, because both of them think they’ll win.”
This would be historical.
